๐ŸRacing with Left and Right Turns: Jack Daniel's Joins F1 ๐ŸŽ ๐Ÿฅƒ

Itโ€™s so shiny! The MCL60

Speedy cars blazed Miami this weekend, leaving a trail of sunscreen and burnt rubber in their wake - marking the return of the Miami Grand Prix ๐ŸŽ. Well, maybe not sunscreen with torrential rains flooding the track - but insanely fast cars nonetheless.

Back in September 2022, Jack Danielโ€™s (parent company Brown-Forman) inked a multi-year deal with McLaren. While the teamโ€™s weekend results in Miami werenโ€™t a podium finish (Norris P17, Piastri P19), it isnโ€™t all bad news for Jack Danielโ€™s.

Like aging whiskey, maintaining a brand takes time and patience. But just as there comes a time to dump out a barrel that's past its prime, businesses must recognize when it's time to pivot to new strategies. Jack Danielโ€™s move away from Nascar to F1 may seem unwise, but the numbers suggest otherwise:

  • NASCAR still has higher ratings for each race in the States; the Daytona 500 has seen a 47% decline in viewership over the last decade.

  • In contrast, F1 has seen a 53% increase in viewers in 2022 vs 2021.

  • "Drive to Survive" Season 5 debut on Netflix had 570K viewers in the first week, up an unprecedented +35% YoY.

  • For the first time ever, 2023 will host three Grand Prix (Miami, Las Vegas, and Austin). The Vegas event alone is projected to make more than the Super Bowl.

Will Jack Daniel's partnership with McLaren pay off if F1's popularity continues to accelerate? And are they just the first to pour some American Whiskey into the F1 sponsorship barrel? Only time will tell, but we'll drink to that.

๐Ÿ Jack Daniel's Whiskey Racing Fuel: A Hypothetical Blend ๐Ÿ

โš  Brace yourself! The geek-o-meter is about to explode with mind-blowing awesomeness. Consider yourself duly warned โ€“ this section will take your nerdiness to unprecedented heights! โšก๏ธ

Ever wondered what it would take to transform Jack Daniel's whiskey into a high-octane racing fuel? While it's not practical, cost-effective, or recommended, here's a hypothetical process to create a 95-octane fuel from whiskey! ๐Ÿฅƒโžก๏ธโ›ฝ

๐Ÿ”น Starting Point: 40% ABV Jack Daniel's whiskey.
๐Ÿ”น Goal: 30 gallons (113.56 liters) of 95-octane racing fuel with 15% whiskey content.

๐Ÿš€ The Process:
1๏ธโƒฃ Distill & Dehydrate: Distill the whiskey to increase ethanol concentration and remove water. Obtain anhydrous ethanol. ๐Ÿ’ง๐Ÿ”ฅ
2๏ธโƒฃ Calculate Blending Ratio: For a 95-octane rating, blend anhydrous ethanol (approx. 113-octane) with iso-octane (100-octane). ๐Ÿงช
3๏ธโƒฃ Blend: Mix approx. 46% anhydrous ethanol with 54% iso-octane to create the final mixture. ๐Ÿ”„
4๏ธโƒฃ Fuel Additives: Add detergents, antioxidants, corrosion inhibitors, etc., to improve fuel performance. ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ’จ

๐Ÿ“‹ Quick Numbers: โ€ข Initial whiskey volume: 42.7 L (approx. 11.3 gallons). โ€ข Anhydrous ethanol volume: 52.24 L (approx. 13.8 gallons). โ€ข Iso-octane volume: 61.32 L (approx. 16.2 gallons).

โš ๏ธ Remember, this process is purely theoretical and should not be attempted in practice. It's meant for fun, not real-world applications! ๐Ÿ˜‰

This sounds like the perfect opportunity for Youtube celebrity Nile Reed to see if this can be done ๐Ÿง๐Ÿ“ฐ

  2. Add Rittenhouse Rye Whiskey and stir briefly to combine.

  3. Fill a julep cup or rocks glass with crushed ice.

  4. Strain the whiskey mixture over the crushed ice.

  5. Stir until the outside of the glass becomes frosty.
